The government today, 27 February 2009, said that it has approved a levy of Development Fee (DF) by Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) at the CSI Airport, Mumbai. The DF will be Rs 100 per departing domestic passenger and Rs 600 per departing international passenger, inclusive of all applicable taxes, for a period of 48 months from 1 April, 2009.

The government said it has approved the imposition of the levy to raise funds given that all other funding options appear to have been exhausted. This has been done to ensure timely completion of modernisation of the Mumbai airport.
